Recording
Engineer , Mixer, Music Producer
I have been working for over twenty years
in the constantly evolving business of audio recording
and mixing. Currently I am a freelance engineer working
on various films, television series and music projects, almost exclusively with Pro
Tools. Music continues to be a very important part of my work whether it is for an artist, songwriter,
or a feature film.
My work in television has included documentaries,
drama, animation, children's programs and comedy.
I have recorded adr for drama programs, narration
for documentaries and character voices for animation
and children's programs. Final mixing of documentaries
and children's programming has been a very rewarding
part of my television experience. This includes recording
and mixing 50 episodes of the BBC Kids series "Tweenies".
Documentaries have also been recorded and mixed for
Discovery Channel, AAC Fact and History Channel. Recently I had the pleasure of recording Canadian author Douglas Coupland as he narrated for the movie adaptation of his book "Souvenir Of Canada".
Working in the many areas of film production has given
me the opportunity to do adr and soundtrack recording
as well as music editing and mixing. With the rising
popularity of dvds, I have been involved in the
production of "director commentary tracks"
for dvd which requires recording, editing and mixing
commentaries. This includes three David Cronenberg
films now released on dvd, "Naked Lunch",
"Videodrome"and "The Fly". Recently I have recorded and mixed the commentary for tha Academy Award winning production "Ryan" and "Alter Egos" as well as Season 4 of the Trailer Park Boys.
Music continues to be a very important part of my
work. This has been very interesting as recordings are usually not taking place in commercial studios. With Michael Gabriel we spent some time recording in a cottage in Stratford, Ontario. It was a very relaxed and also quite a productive session. I have been the music editor for the
Canadian film, "Falling Angels". This past
year I have recorded and mixed a third cd with the
Wellington String Quartet. I also continue working
with Sony Music, most recently with Nashville
Star winner, Brad Cotter and former Creed members, Alterbridge. Just mastered for vinyl and cd is a new 6 song ep from Jerrycan called "The Day The World Died". It's been a few years since I have had a vinyl release. Many thanks to George Graves at the Lacquer Channel in Toronto for an amazing mastering session.
Included are selected credits of projects that I have
been a part of. They have been broken down into areas
of film, television and music.
